Dental emergencies can be scary — especially for children and their parents. Whether it’s a broken tooth, a sudden toothache, or a dental injury from sports or play, our team is here to help you act quickly and calmly.
At Harrison Pediatric Dentistry, we offer same-day appointments for urgent dental needs whenever possible. If your child is in pain, we want to help right away.
Call us immediately if your child experiences:
Knocked-out tooth (baby or permanent)
Cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
Swelling in the mouth or signs of an abscess
Trauma to the mouth, lips, or gums
Broken or lost dental fillings or crowns
Toothache or sensitivity
Even if you’re unsure whether it’s an emergency, we encourage you to call. We’ll talk you through the situation and let you know the best next steps.
Here are a few tips for managing dental emergencies at home:
Toothache: Rinse with warm water and use a cold compress. Do not place aspirin on the gums.
Knocked-out tooth: Keep the tooth moist (in milk or saliva) and bring it with you. Act quickly.
Chipped tooth: Save the fragment, rinse the mouth, and apply a cold compress.
Swelling or abscess: Rinse with salt water and call us right away.
